Berlin + the beach + Lübeck

My last few days in Germany were splendid.  I took a trip to Berlin, and trip to a popular beach, and a trip to the most gorgeous city I have ever seen.

The trip to Berlin was mostly for the wall.  It has been painted in sections and it is truly fascinating to see so many art styles side by side.  A lot our time there was spent along the wall and walking around Berlin.

We also stopped and saw a few statues and old buildings before departing.

We even threw in a boat tour of some nice areas of Berlin.

The day after, we went to a popular tourist beach.  The weather was breezy and somewhat sunny.  It was therefore perfect for me.

Before getting to the second part of the day, I wanted to show how American chain restaurants are treated in Hamburg:

And cheap beer still looks amazing:

You can get interesting drinks such as melon soda:

Now for the crown jewel of my trip to Germany: Lübeck.  It is a small city in which old structures have been preserved from centuries ago.  It appears to be for tourism and that appears to be working.  The setting feels like a town was plucked from a fairy tale just for us to look at.

This gate to the town if from the 15th century, if my memory serves me correctly.

The other said of the above gate.

The town itself has some modern shops and infrastructure, but all of that
is set to a backdrop of very old structures.

But I think it blends pretty nicely sometimes.

As my companion Darya put it, this town is so gorgeous that it makes you want to walk in every direction at once:

It is complete cobblestone streets and small alleyways.

Old signs:

And incredibly ornate old buildings.

I snapped a whole bunch of pictures of buildings for you all...

I am pretty sure this is a dollhouse.

The houses and shops have incredibly beautiful doors:

And there are even somewhat hidden alleys:

What awaits you and the ends of these alleys are beautiful courtyards and private residences:

Imagine coming out of this alleyway...

To see all this:

The sun beginning to set tarnishes nothing about this place's beauty:

But, we did eventually have to cross over the river-moat to leave.

This one place alone was worth the trip.
